During the BioBlitz from May 9 through June 7, 2026, the Amsterdamse Bos transformed into a bustling exploration area for nature lovers, explorers, and curious visitors.
Over the course of four weeks, events were organized around the themes of birds, flora, small creatures, and nightlife.
For the first theme week, “Birds,” I was asked to share five favourte photos of birds in the Amsterdamse Bos for a temporary exhibition in the forest shop. Four of the photos are used.
Translated text on wall: “Stephan is a welcome visitor to the Amsterdamse Bos. Not only does he take stunning photographs in the Amsterdamse Bos and throughout the Netherlands, but he also helps us monitor birds and other species groups. He does this, amongst other things, by entering his sightings on the Waarneming.nl platform, which gives us at the Amsterdamse Bos even greater insight into the wildlife in the forest.”
